Lightroom Compatibility

Send your culled selections to Adobe Lightroom Classic for further editing.

Lightroom Compatibility

Fovea integrates with Adobe Lightroom Classic so you can cull in Fovea and then hand off your selects for further editing in Lightroom.

How It Works

Fovea uses AppleScript to communicate with Lightroom Classic:

  1. Select the photos you want to send to Lightroom.
  2. Use the Send to Lightroom option in the export or context menu.
  3. Fovea detects the common parent folder of your selected files.
  4. Lightroom Classic opens with its Import dialog pre-populated to that folder.

Requirements

  • Adobe Lightroom Classic must be installed on your Mac (checked at standard install paths).
  • Fovea needs Accessibility permissions to send keyboard shortcuts to Lightroom via System Events.

Limitations

  • This feature opens Lightroom’s import dialog at the folder level — you may need to manually filter down to your specific selects within Lightroom’s import grid.
  • The AppleScript integration works with Lightroom Classic only, not the cloud-based Lightroom CC.

Best Practice

A recommended workflow is:

  1. Import your shoot into Fovea.
  2. Cull using ratings, scenes, and close-ups to identify your selects.
  3. Export your selects to a folder using Fovea’s export (Copy mode).
  4. Import that folder into Lightroom Classic for retouching.
