Culling
Loupe View
Full-screen single image view with zoom, face assessment, and tools.
Loupe View
The Loupe is Fovea’s full-screen single-image viewer. It’s where you inspect individual photos at full resolution and access culling tools.
Opening the Loupe
Press Space or double-click a thumbnail in the grid to enter Loupe View.
Zoom & Pan
- Pinch (trackpad) or scroll (mouse) to zoom in and out.
- Drag to pan around the image when zoomed in.
- The image renders progressively — a fast preview loads first, followed by the full-resolution RAW data.
Face Assessment Icons
When face detection has run, the Loupe overlays assessment icons on detected faces:
| Icon | Color | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| Eye checkmark | 🟢 Green | Sharp focus, eyes open |
| Eye | 🟡 Yellow | Semi-closed eyes (potential blink) |
| Eye with triangle | 🟠 Orange | Partially out of focus |
| Eye slash | 🔴 Red | Blinking or blurry |
Toggle these icons on/off with the eye icon in the Loupe toolbar.
Toolbar
The Loupe toolbar includes:
- Help/Legend — Shows a guide to all icons and tools
- Eye toggle — Show/hide face assessment overlays
- OmniChannel — Toggle multi-crop preview (
⌘ O) - Subject-Aware Crop — Auto-center crops on the detected subject
- Close — Return to the grid
Tips
- Use the Loupe to quickly check focus by zooming into eyes — this is faster than opening each image in an external editor.
- Navigate between photos with
←and→arrows while staying in Loupe View.
