Crop & Straighten

Crop your images with precision overlays and straighten horizons.

Crop & Straighten

The Crop tool in Fovea’s Develop module lets you reframe your composition and correct tilted horizons.

Using the Crop Tool

  1. Enter the Develop module by selecting a photo and switching to the Develop view.
  2. The crop tool is available in the toolbar. The Crop Toolbar provides aspect ratio presets and orientation controls.
  3. Drag the handles on the crop overlay to resize and reposition the crop area.
  4. The area outside the crop is dimmed to help you visualize the final framing.

Aspect Ratio Presets

Common presets are built in:

  • Free — unconstrained crop
  • 1:1 — square (Instagram)
  • 4:5 — portrait (Instagram portrait)
  • 16:9 — wide (YouTube thumbnails, web banners)
  • 3:2 — standard DSLR ratio
  • 5:4 — classic print ratio

Straighten

Use the rotation slider in the Transform panel or drag the crop overlay’s edge to rotate the image and correct a tilted horizon.

Tips

  • Double-click inside the crop area to confirm the crop.
  • The crop is non-destructive — you can always change or remove it later.
  • Combine with OmniChannel (⌘ O) to preview how different crops will look across multiple platforms.
