Fovea Folio & Desktop Sync

How to use Fovea Folio to deliver galleries and sync client selections directly into Fovea Desktop.

Introducing Fovea Folio

Fovea Folio is a completely free, infinitely scalable photo delivery platform included with your Fovea Desktop experience. It allows you to deliver beautiful, password-protected galleries directly from your Google Drive or Dropbox without paying for secondary storage.

To access Fovea Folio, navigate to folio.get-fovea.app and sign in.

Connecting Cloud Storage

Instead of uploading photos twice, Fovea Folio reads directly from your existing cloud storage.

  1. On the Fovea Folio Dashboard, click Connect Storage.
  2. Authenticate with your Google Drive or Dropbox account.
  3. Once connected, click New Gallery.
  4. Browse your cloud folders and select the folder containing your exported, final JPEGs.
  5. Fovea Folio will instantly index the folder and generate a masonry-grid gallery.

Client Proofing & Favorites

When clients view your live gallery, they can click the Heart Icon on any photo to add it to their personal “Favorites” list. They will be prompted to enter their email address so you know exactly who made the selection.

You can view these selections in the Fovea Folio Dashboard under your Gallery Settings.

Syncing Selections to Fovea Desktop

The true magic of Fovea Folio is the direct two-way sync with your local Fovea Desktop catalog. You no longer need to manually search for filenames from a spreadsheet or email!

In the Fovea Folio Dashboard, open your Gallery Settings. At the top of the Client Selections (Favorites) card, click the Copy Gallery ID button.

2. Run the Sync in Fovea Desktop

  1. Open your project in the Fovea Desktop macOS app.
  2. Ensure you are in the Grid View.
  3. In the left sidebar, under the Export section, click the Sync Client Selections button.
  4. Paste your Gallery ID into the prompt and click Sync.

3. Reviewing Selections

Fovea Desktop will connect to the Folio API and instantly apply a Purple Color Label (.purple) to every photo your client favorited.

To view only the selected photos, simply click the Purple Label Filter at the top of the Fovea Desktop grid. From here, you can easily export them, move them to a new folder, or proceed to edit them in the Develop module!
